Wednesday Night Fellowship and Study Programs for adults are held each week on ZOOM. Fellowship…
Wednesday nights, April 10, 17 & 24
7 – 8:15 p.m.
Stephen Prothero, an author and professor in the Department of Religion at Boston University, has noted that “the United States is one of the most religious places on earth, but it is also a nation of religious illiterates… and yet politicians and pundits continue to root public policy arguments in religious rhetoric whose meanings are missed, or misinterpreted,by the vast majority of American citizens.”
For three Wednesdays we will use Prothero’s book, Religious Literacy: What Every American Should Know and Doesn’t to explore the basics of other religious faiths; to explore U.S. History and how we lost our religious literacy, as well as explore some solutions for this problem. Advanced reading is not required, and while participants will gain the most from attending all three sessions, you may attend all or any as you are able.
