Have you ever thought about seeing the places that we talk about every Sunday? A group from St. James’ recently took a ten-day tour and came back with a new sense about what the world of Jesus was like. When you have walked the streets of Jerusalem, had a drink of water from Jacob’s well, seen the mountain of Transfiguration, remembered your Baptismal promises in the Jordan River to name a few experiences you can never hear the scriptures read without a different feeling. Jesus is real and his life is lived out in a tour like this. A tour of the Holy Land, a journey through the sites where our faith began is referred to as the “the Fifth Gospel” by James Martin, SJ in his book Jesus, A Pilgrimage.  The size of the 2020 group will be limited. Toward the end of 2019, the group will meet weekly to discuss Martin’s book as preparation. Pilgrims who participated in the February 2019 trip are encouraged to attend the discussions.

This tour will benefit from our recent experience.  We are holding the number down to a smaller group.  We will spend time studying in preparation for the trip, we will tailor our study and visits to place and events of Jesus’ life.  We will also spend some time in meditation and reflection moving toward a pilgrimage experience of deepening faith.

Dates: January 30, 2020-February 9, 2020  Land portion of the trip $2500/person (double) $3,000/person(single)
