Wednesday Night Fellowship and Study Programs for adults are held each week on ZOOM. Fellowship…
November 5-19, 2014
Join Assistant Rector Reverend Carmen Germino on a journey through the sites where our faith began. Pilgrims who participate will read the Bible with new eyes for the rest of their lives. Our host community for the trip will be St. George’s College, situated on the grounds of the Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Our group will enroll in a program called Palestine of Jesus. This basic course provides a wonderful introduction to the Holy Land with a 14-day study tour, allowing participants to understand the life and ministry of Jesus in historical context, appreciate more fully the roots and traditions of Christianity, integrate biblical study with personal faith, and begin to understand some of the contemporary issues in Israel and Palestine. Many Holy Land pilgrimages can feel very “touristy” but St. George’s provides an exceptionally nuanced, enriching, and meaningful pilgrimage experience.
In Jerusalem, we will visit the different quarters of the Old City including the Church of the Resurrection, the Dome of the Rock, the Western Wall, the Mount of Olives, the Via Dolorosa, and more. We will also journey to Bethlehem, Jericho, the Dead Sea, Nazareth, Emmaus, and around the Sea of Galilee, including the presumed sites of the Sermon on the Mount, the Transfiguration, and more.
The cost of the pilgrimage will be around $3500 plus airfare. The price includes comfortable double occupancy accommodations, all meals, and all tour expenses. The final cost will be determined as early as possible in 2014. All participants must have a valid passport that expires no earlier than June 2015. The pilgrimage will require extensive walking over rough terrain, so participants over 70 years of age must submit a doctor’s note saying they can handle the physical demands. Those interested should contact the Rev. Carmen Germino at email@example.com or 355-1779. Space is limited and a non-refundable deposit of $300 per person will be required to reserve your spot. The deposit deadline is January 30, 2014.
