Reflection about the Feast from this year’s chairs:

Let the Spirit Move You
If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another.
(I John 1:7)

On October 28 at 6:00 p.m., we will celebrate the 15th annual Feast of St. James’s at the Science Museum of Virginia!
We hope that each of you will come join 500 of your fellow parishioners to share in a special evening of fellowship, dinner and entertainment. The Feast will mark the culmination of our 2016 stewardship campaign. This special evening brings together our entire parish to celebrate the variety of St. James’s ministries that allow us to serve God, our community, and parish, but it is also an opportunity for us to offer thanksgiving for our collective financial stewardship which is vital to our parish’s health.

Life is a gift of God. All that we have in this life is part of that gift. Stewardship reinforces this belief and reminds us that our time, talents and resources are the gifts through which we show our love and appreciation to God.

We are reminded of a science lesson about why the range of geese flying in “V” formation is 71% greater than of any single member of the flock. Each bird creates an updraft that aids the flight of the bird behind it. When the lead bird tires, it drops back to the rear formation, where flight is easiest, while a more rested bird takes its place at the point. Yet each bird, to benefit from the formation, must fly close enough to its companion to catch the updraft. A flock that fails to provide for its weary members, along with the bird that fails to devote its strength to the flock, will fall short of the destination.

Each one of us here at St James’s is given a unique gift. It may be time, financial resources, optimism, creativity, or a myriad of other blessings. But the constant denominator to our ability to serve God and our community is our Parish members drawing close to each other, supporting our flock, and providing the vital network that allows us to be doers, and doing, exponentially, more than any one of us could do on our own.

During the next week, we encourage each of you to reflect on how Christ has blessed you individually and us as a parish, and what your contribution to lifting the flock will be in the coming year. Let’s come together to have fellowship with one another on this special evening, and celebrate the life of our parish and the blessings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Let your talents and contributions lift our flock towards the heaven above!

See you at the Feast!
