Camino De Santiago By Bike

From Leon to Santiago, May 14 – 20, 2017
Planning Meeting: Sunday, October 2, 12:30 p.m.
Gibson Hall Atrium with Rev. Dr. Mark Cooper

Every year, Pilgrims bike and walk the Camino trails in Spain/France that have been used for over a thousand years. In 2013 Dr. Cooper and his daughter Laura set out to walk a section of the Camino de. Santiago; 177 miles later they entered the Cathedral of St. James for an English Mass and the end of their meaningful walk. Dr. Cooper is ready to return to travel over another section of the Walk – this time by bicycle. Each day will start and end with a time of meditation and the participants are encouraged to think of the trip as a time for a life review. There will be free time for side tours so you can make the trip your own adventure. Dr. Cooper will discuss his recent book, Mapping Your Adventure: Discovering Integrity in a Life Review. More information about the book can be found at

Prior to leaving for Spain the group who decide to make this trip will become acquainted, will receive an orientation to biking and minor bike repair, and will take training rides in preparation for the trip.

The trip will be directed by an experienced company: CaminoWay. Information about the company and the various trips they offer can be found at Arrangements for the trip will include hotel accommodations, breakfast and evening meals, rental bikes, course maps and support. The trip is considered moderately difficult covering approximately 35 miles per day. The trip will begin on May 14 and will end in Santiago on May 20, 2017. We will begin in Leon and finish in Santiago, Spain. The approximate cost for the trip including hotels, meals, bikes etc. will be $1050.00 Travelers will need to secure their own flights to Europe and back home and may want to travel in Europe before or after the trip. For more information contact Dr. Cooper at or by phone 703-980-0130.
