2017 Parish Retreat at Shrine Mont

The historic Shrine Mont Retreat Center offers a beautiful setting for St. James’s annual fall retreat in the mountains. Our new rector, the Rev. Dr. John McCard will be joining us too! Participants have the opportunity to unplug, relax, and enjoy the gorgeous fall mountain scenery and each other’s company. There will be activities for adults and children, delicious meals, and comfortable accommodations. This is a special weekend for our parish and is designed to be fun for all ages and stages, young and older, singles and families.

Shrine Mont Parish-wide Retreat Weekend

Dare to Say Yes: Choosing Between What’s Good and What’s Best
With Guest Speaker Jerusalem Greer

Do you ever feel like your life is rushing by so fast that you are actually missing it?
Do you find that you are over-committed, overextended, and overtired?
Do you ever just want to hit the pause button and take a moment to catch your breath?
Or maybe you feel paralyzed by all the choices facing you right now, unable to decide which direction to go in your life?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then the Parish Retreat is for you. Join us for weekend of pressing pause, breathing in God’s goodness, and daring to say “Yes” to the spiritual practice of going slow, as writer and speaker Jerusalem Greer helps us all discover how we can begin to choose between what is good and what is actually best for the current season of our lives, learning to map out a path from over-committed to intentionally thriving.

Come for fellowship, learning, and worship together at this special place. Our program will be appropriate for all ages, with free childcare for children under 4. We hope you’ll join us!

About our speaker: In addition to being an Episcopal Family Minister, Jerusalem is also a writer, and speaker, and is the author of At Home in this Life: Finding Peace at the Crossroads of Unraveled Dreams and Beautiful Surprises.  She lives with her husband and two teenage sons in Arkansas, on a small hobby farm. As a family they are attempting to live a slower version of the modern life. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. She writes about all of this and more at
